1970's Copper Mine Landing

In the 1970's, another event occurred just 12 miles outside of Ely in a small community known as Ruth. This time however, the military could not keep the situation under wraps and out of the public's eye.

During the night shift at the Robinson Copper Mine, a mysterious flying object with purple flashing lights came from the rural Duck Creek Wildlife area and landed in the mining pit during the night shift. Within minutes, several military helicopters and personnel appeared at the mine and ordered all of the workers to leave. Days after the military's appearance, the object was reported to have been carried off by helicopters outside of town around mid-afternoon. The helicopters flew over a highly populated part of Ely and dozens of individuals witnessed the convoy carrying their precious cargo in the direction of Area 51. The Ely Daily Times newspaper wrote a story on the incident and remains to be the smoking gun of the landing story along with the eyewitness reports.

"You need to leave! Get out now!" A mining foreman kept yelling shortly before it came over the mountain.
